INGREDIENTS:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1 tbsp milk (for brushing)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, butter, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide into equal portions. Shape into balls.
- Place the buns on a baking tray and cover. Let them rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Brush the tops with milk.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush with butter after baking for extra softness.
TIPS:
- Use warm milk, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
- Knead the dough well for soft and fluffy texture.
- Do not skip the second rise—it makes buns lighter.
- Cover buns immediately after baking to keep them soft.
- You can add a little honey or extra butter for richer flavor.
