Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- ½ cup warm water
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4–4½ cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add melted butter and salt, then slowly mix in the flour one cup at a time.
- Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into loaves or rolls.
- Place into a greased baking pan and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush warm bread with butter and serve fresh.
Tips
- Make sure the milk and water are warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
- For extra soft bread, do not add too much flour.
- Brush the top with melted butter right after baking for a bakery-style finish.
- Store in an airtight container to keep the bread fresh and fluffy.
