Million Times Better Than the Bakery – Soft Homemade Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4–4½ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter and salt, then slowly mix in the flour one cup at a time.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into loaves or rolls.
  6. Place into a greased baking pan and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Brush warm bread with butter and serve fresh.

Tips

  • Make sure the milk and water are warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
  • For extra soft bread, do not add too much flour.
  • Brush the top with melted butter right after baking for a bakery-style finish.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep the bread fresh and fluffy.
