Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 kg chicken pieces
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

For the Coating

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and pat dry the chicken pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix buttermilk, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Remove chicken from marinade and coat each piece well in the flour mixture.
  6. Press the flour coating firmly onto the chicken for extra crispiness.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  8. Fry chicken pieces for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  9. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
