DESCRIPTION

Brioche bread is a rich, soft, and buttery French classic known for its tender crumb and golden crust. Made with eggs and butter, it has a slightly sweet flavor that makes it perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or desserts like French toast. This homemade version is light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious fresh out of the oven.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
  4. Add butter slowly while kneading until fully incorporated and smooth.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf or buns.
  7. Place in a greased pan, cover, and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Brush with egg wash for a golden crust.
  9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

TIPS

  • Use room-temperature ingredients for better texture.
  • Knead well to develop a soft and elastic dough.
  • Don’t skip the second rise—it makes the bread extra fluffy.
  • Brush with egg wash twice for a deeper golden color.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh longer.
