The cake is finished with a smooth, sweet glaze—perfectly customizable with caramel, lemon, or orange flavors. Ideal for tea-time, celebrations, or as a comforting homemade treat.

INGREDIENTS:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Glaze (choose one):

  • ½ cup caramel sauce or
  • 1 cup powdered sugar + 2 tbsp lemon/orange juice

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  7. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cake cool slightly, then remove from pan.
  10. Drizzle glaze over the warm cake and allow it to set before slicing.

TIPS:

  • Use room-temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
  • Do not overmix; it can make the cake dense.
  • Let the cake cool before glazing to avoid melting the topping too much.
  • Add citrus zest for extra flavor if using lemon or orange glaze.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep it moist for up to 3 days.
