Amber Fort (Amer Fort) is located in the village of Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer was the capital of Rajasthan and was originally till the 18th century, but Amber fort according to the dates was constructed in the 16th century by the RAJA MAN SINGH I. This fort is on a high hilltop, on the outskirts of Jaipur city.

This fort is worth visiting as it was built with grand architecture that blends the unique beauty of Rajput (Hindu) and Mughal (Muslim), this fortress looks more like a palace than a fort. This fort is preserved from the glorious days when Rajput rulers were ruling in Rajasthan.

SIGNIFICANCE


As Amber fort is the jewel of Jaipur city. Once Amber was the princely city of Jaipur, Amber Fort was the residence of Rajput rulers. Raja Man Singh, I, the king of Kachwaha led its construction in 1592. As the entire fort was built over 100 years, the whole construction was the effort of the RajaJai Singh I and Sawai Jai Singh II.

This fort is also well known as the Amber Palace, this fort is built is made with shades of honey and marble and red stone and the beautiful lake (Maota Lake) adds more charm to the entire fort. Amber fort was declared the world’s heritage site by UNESCO in 2013.

EXPLORING THE WAY TOWARD THE FORT


This palace has four separate sections each section has its courtyard and entry gate with its majestic history. But the east-facing gate is the main entrance to Amber palace and as its position is towards the rising of the sun so the main entry is the sun gate (Suraj pol) which opens toward the main courtyard, where the march of the army took place for their king. This gate also allows the elephants to go through because the palace lies on the top of the hill.

The Jaleb Chowk will lead us to the main grounds of the palace, on the right of the straight steps there you will see Sila Devi Temple, the second famous courtyard, above the Ganesh pol or Ganesh gate is the Suhag Mandir where the ladies of the royal families use to watch the functions held in the Diwan-i-aam through Jalis (latticed marble window).

The third courtyard includes the Sheesh Mahal and the Sukh Mahal (Hall of pleasure). And if we talk about the most famous attraction here is the Magic flower, it’s the fresco which is carved out of marble. Tripolia gate which gives access from the west to the palace.

This gate opens in three different directions one towards the Jaleb Chowk, Man Singh Palace, and Zenana Deorhi. The Lion Gate was one of the guarded gates as it leads towards the private quarters. The fourth courtyard includes the Zenana Deorhi where the women of royal families lived.

HOW TO REACH Amber FORT?

As the Amber fort is located outside Jaipur, around 13 kilometers (8 miles) or 20 minutes northeast of the pink city, near the JAIGARH FORT, Which is on the road and will lead out of the town toward Delhi and Agra.


Through Air– Jaipur International Airport is the nearest airport which is 12km away from the city and by cabs, you can reach Amer fort.


Through rail– as many cities are connected to Jaipur by train. It 13Km distances from Jaipur Junction Railway station and now by cab you can reach the Amber Fort.


Through road– to go to Amber fort within Jaipur you can hire any taxi or car, but the public bus to Amber fort starts at Ajmer gate and MI road and this will take about 20 minutes to reach Amber fort.

Best time to visit AMBER Fort


Amber fort is open during all seasons from 8 Am to 5.30 pm. as the Amber fort is on the top of the hill either you can ride on an elephant back which can almost cost 1,200RS and carries two persons at a time or buy any own vehicle. The fort in the evening is quite pleasant because of evening
sounds, light shows, night viewing, and dinner.

The cost for INDIANS is 50RS and Composites tickets can cost you up to 150RS for foreigner is 250RS
and composites tickets are up to 500RS, the validity of the tickets is up to two days which includes AMBER and NAHARGARG FORT, Albert Hall Museum, Jantar Mantar observatory, Hawa Mahal, Sisodia Rani, and Vidhyadhar garden and Isarlat. The cost of an elephant ride is 1,200RS which carries two persons at a time, and the timing of ride start from morning 7 Am to 11.30 Am
