Soft Milk Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the egg, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Add softened butter and knead until fully incorporated.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or rolls.
  7. Place in a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  8. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Brush the top with butter while warm for a soft crust.
  10. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Tips

  • Use warm milk, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Knead thoroughly for a light and fluffy texture.
  • For extra softness, replace 2 tablespoons of milk with cream.
  • Cover the bread with a clean towel while cooling to keep it soft.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
