This quick and soft homemade bread is perfect for busy days when you need fresh bread fast. Prepared with simple pantry ingredients, the dough is light, fluffy, and cooked in small ramekins. It can be steamed or baked and is ready in just around 20 minutes. Ideal for breakfast, snacks, or serving with tea.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tbsp oil (optional for softness)
INSTRUCTION:
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt, then mix well.
- Add melted butter and knead into a soft dough.
- Cover and rest for 10 minutes.
- Grease ramekins lightly with butter or oil.
- Divide dough into small portions and place into ramekins.
- Steam for 15–20 minutes OR bake at 180°C for 15–18 minutes until golden.
- Remove and let cool slightly before serving.
TIPS:
- Use warm milk (not hot) to activate yeast properly.
- Do not overfill ramekins; leave space for rising.
- For extra softness, brush with butter after cooking.
