DESCRIPTION
This homemade fresh tomato sauce is rich, flavorful, and made with simple ingredients. Perfect for pasta, pizza, and many Italian-inspired dishes. It is fresh, healthy, and easy to prepare in your kitchen.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kilogram ripe tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional but recommended)
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
- Black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves (optional for aroma)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash tomatoes and cut a small “X” on the bottom of each.
- Boil water in a pot and blanch tomatoes for 1–2 minutes.
- Remove and place them in cold water, then peel off the skins.
- Chop the peeled tomatoes finely or blend them for a smooth sauce.
- Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add blended tomatoes and cook on medium heat for 10–15 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste, salt, pepper, and sugar if using.
- Simmer for another 10–20 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Add fresh basil at the end for extra flavor.
TIPS
- Use very ripe tomatoes for best natural sweetness.
- Simmer longer for a thicker, richer sauce.
- Add chili flakes for a spicy version.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- You can freeze it for up to 2 months.
