Table of Contents
Key Themes in Juz 5 (Surah An-Nisa: 65-70)
Surah An-Nisa (“The Women”) addresses social justice, family laws, and the importance of submitting to Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ). These verses highlight:
✅ True faith requires accepting the Prophet’s (ﷺ) judgment (4:65)
✅ Unquestioning obedience leads to great rewards (4:66-68)
✅ The ultimate prize: Companionship of the righteous in Jannah (4:69-70)
Verse-by-Verse Breakdown & Lessons
1. Condition of True Faith: Accepting the Prophet’s Judgment (4:65)
فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ…
“But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you judge in their disputes…”
- Allah SWT swears that Eman is incomplete without accepting the Prophet’s (ﷺ) authority.
- Modern Application:
- Do we seek solutions from the Quran & Sunnah in conflicts?
- Or do we prefer man-made laws over Islamic rulings?
2. The Test of Absolute Obedience (4:66)
وَلَوْ أَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنِ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ…
“If We had ordered them to ‘Kill yourselves’ or ‘Leave your homes,’ only a few would obey…”
- Lesson: Many reject divine commands because they seem “illogical” (e.g., Hijab, Halal income).
- Example: The Muhajireen left everything for Islam, while Bani Israel hesitated.
- Reflection: Do we obey unconditionally, or only when it suits us?
3. The Great Reward for Obedience (4:67-68)
وَإِذًا لَّـَٔاتَيْنَـٰهُم مِّن لَّدُنَّآ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا…
“We would have granted them a mighty reward and guided them to the Straight Path.”
- Promise:
- Ajr-e-Azeem (Great Reward) – Blessings in this life & hereafter.
- Guidance to Sirat al-Mustaqeem – Protection from misguidance.
4. Ultimate Success: Companionship of the Righteous (4:69-70)
وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم…
“Those who obey Allah and the Messenger will be with the Prophets, Siddeeqeen, Martyrs, and the Righteous.”
- Hierarchy of the Blessed:
- Prophets (Highest rank)
- Siddeeqeen (Truthful like Abu Bakr RA)
- Shuhada (Martyrs)
- Salihin (Righteous)
- Dream Companionship: Imagine sitting with Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in Jannah!
Practical Life Lessons
1. Submit Fully to Quran & Sunnah
- Reject selective obedience (e.g., accepting Salah but ignoring Hijab/Riba).
- Ask: “Would I follow the Prophet (ﷺ) even if it seems difficult?”
2. Trust Allah’s Wisdom Over Personal Desires
- Halal/Haram is not subjective (e.g., “Interest is unavoidable today”).
- Warning: Celebrating sins (e.g., housewarming with Riba) multiplies guilt.
3. Seek the Company of the Righteous
- In Dunya: Befriend those who remind you of Allah.
- For Akhirah: Strive to join the ranks of the Siddeeqeen and Shuhada.
4. Avoid Hypocrisy (Nifaq) in Faith
- Signs of Nifaq: Constant doubt, cherry-picking rulings, justifying sins.
- Solution: Increase Eman through knowledge and sincere obedience.
